About the author
Bethany Harvey is a writer, artist, and editor living in Gainesville, Florida. She grew up in the woods of rural West Virginia and has a passionate love-hate relationship with the place of her birth, which finds its way into probably too much of her writing. She loves her adopted hometown, but Florida has only recently become a setting in her fiction. Apparently she has to leave a place before she can write about it.
She writes because she has stories in her head and she thinks other people might like to hear them. She writes both speculative and literary fiction and takes great joy in blurring the boundaries between them. Her real-world fiction mostly has to do with being young and queer in the New South, but she insists that it is not autobiographical. Of course, being a writer, she's an incorrigible liar, so this claim should be taken with a grain of salt.
Her other interests include botany and horticulture, painting, photography, and "making stuff". Her only regret about writing is that it doesn't take her outside nearly often enough. If they ever invent a waterproof and shock-proof laptop that she can afford, she will probably spend all her writing time in a canoe.
In addition to writing, she also does art sometimes. Most of it can be found in her deviantART store.
